My Strongest Rival

Surrounded by billions of bellies that are dying to be fed
Seeking shelter, warmth, a companion, and a comfortable bed
The one special thing that allows us to eat, drink and sleep
It's the medium to survive, and it doesn't come cheap

Pleasure and pain have nothing to do at all
With your rise to the top and your eventual fall
It's the economy stupid, it's time and wage
We are slaves to money, the key is the cage

We don't deserve our freedom, we have to earn it
We need credibility to prove value and worth
Take my application, go ahead and burn it
Yeah, it's me -- the greatest megalomaniac on Earth

I applied for that job until I was blue in the face
What were you so afraid of, losing the race?

An innocent spirit you have successfully crushed
Slowing dying in my cage with no one to trust
I hold the power and I am the key to my own survival
This song of rage will echo through the eardrums of my strongest rival

if the world is an illusion created by consciousness then it is our connections that matter not our possessions.  Things like personality & habit are more important then the houses we live in or the cars we drive — if the world is an illusion holding to such things is as silly as holding on to a sports care in a lucid dream.

peace love & joy

Right on. I agree with you. So many interesting things in this world to ponder. And so many more things, even, to ponder about our own consciousness. I sometimes like to even wonder about life elsewhere in this universe, and how they might appear to us. Would they communicate verbally? It's cool to think about. So Nightphoenix, have you seen the documentary / docudrama called, “What The Bleep Do We Know?”
